Giclee (jee-clay) is an advanced printmaking process for creating high quality fine art reproductions. The attainable excellence that Giclee printmaking affords makes the reproduction virtually indistinguishable from the original artwork. The result is wide acceptance of Giclee by galleries, museums, and private collectors.

Now you can experience all the eclecticism and wild color of Salvatore Principe's unique artwork. "Hearts of Love #4" will be an fasinating new accent of any home or office decor.

Salvatore Principe was born in 1959 of Italian heritage and raised in Manhattan, where the brutal collides with the beautiful. Salvatore found himself inspired by juxstaposition and diversity, while influenced by the pop culture of the 70's.

    • For the past twenty-five years as an artist Salvatore's quest has not wavered: A steadfast dedication to enriching peoples lives through his deeply abounding, expressive, and affecting art. His work reflects a depth of emotion blind to racial division or language barrier. It is about the spirit of life, celebrated through human emotion. In kind, Salvatore is continually donating pieces for charitable auction, raising in excess of $300,000 in the past five years alone.

With his art always current and influencing what's chic and modern, Salvatore Principe's talent has graced the walls of numerous New York City cultural relevant institutions, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman and The Trump Towers. Salvatore's pieces have exibited in galleries and art events around the globe; nationally from Manhattan's SoHo to Miami's South Beach and overseas from Bulgaria to Japan.

Salvatore has been professionally influenced by the works of Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Willem De Kooning and Jackson Pollack. Owners of Salvatore's original works include Nicole Miller, Jennifer Capriati, Adam Sandler, Tony Bennett, Dr. Phil, Cameron Diaz, Donald Trump, Chris Evert, Robert Rauschenberg, Gwen Stefani, Andy Roddick, Lisa de Kooning, Patti LaBelle and the late Miles Davis.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

When asked what else he'd want to be if not a musician, Shawn laughs and says, "I don't know, a poker player, an astronaut, a bum... That question doesn't even make sense to me, this is the only thing I've ever wanted to do."

Growing up outside of Boston, MA, when his good friend Chris Aviles showed him his first three chords, G, C, and D, something finally fit. He wrote his first song, Oak Tree, that night. "I needed music. It was the only true outlet I had for a long time. Chris will always be one of my biggest inspirations."

So 18 years, 5 bands, and over 1500 shows later, Shawn has shared the stage with the likes of Cake, Rusted Root, G-Love, The Fray, Moody Blues, Everclear and the list goes on. He cites one of his best memories as sitting at the bottom of Durango Mountain in CO with Arlo Guthrie, swapping stories over a few beers. Although music is still his most important outlet, it's different now. "It's not so drastic, I play music so I'm not a detriment to society. So I can give back and hopefully my honesty will allow others to listen to their own voice and not be afraid of who they are or what they want. The biggest compliment is when a crowd reflects back my passion for music. When someone says my music changed their life or that a particular song helped them through a tough time. It's humbling and motivating at the same time."

Designing lyrics from the sights and emotions around him and combining it with sounds from his inspirations; Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Counting Crows, Peter Gabriel, Richie Havens, BNL, and Ani DiFranco, Shawn creats original music that is hard to categorize.

Apart from playing with his band, Shawn Johnson and the Foundation, his 2009 solo release, Songs for Scenes, showcases the artists wide range of songwriting talent and musical production skills. Giving his fans a more intimate look at what he's all about.
